![]() ![]() Then, relax in the hot tub as you overlook panoramic views of the White River. After a day of underground exploration, return to your private cabin with Can-U-Canoe. These captivating caves near Eureka Springs will bring you back for a visit year after year. Eureka Springs is also centrally located next to some of the best caves in Arkansas. From the historic downtown to exciting fishing, kayaking, and hiking adventures, we have it all. Sure, Mammoth is much larger, Carlsbad is unique, but the combination of the quality of the cave and the excellent tour makes this a special place not to be missed.Nestled in the heart of the Ozarks, Eureka Springs is an idyllic hotspot that has drawn in tourists for decades. I have been in dozens of caves around the world, and I consider this to be a hidden gem. Our grandson was thrilled and engaged the guide in conversation often no question was too silly. ![]() The guide took his time and we could ask any questions. Unlike Mammoth, this cave contains numerous beautiful and spectacular features, including flow stones, stalactites, and stalagmites. Our tour guide was a young man from the area who was remarkably well informed about the history of the cave and the processes going on inside. Our tour consisted of the three of us (including 8-year old grandson) and another couple and their child, so the group was pleasantly small, almost a private tour. We had a nice time looking around while we waited for the previous tour to finish, and our grandson really enjoyed all of the things displayed about. ![]() There are dinosaurs, a Big Boy statue, space ships, etc. When you arrive at Crystal Onyx Cave, you are greeted by a scene that can best be described as a funky mix of Americana, with a smattering of rocks and minerals. We visited this cave after spending half a day at Mammoth Cave, doing a couple of their tours. This place is absolutely worth an extra stop when you’re in the area! I know some other tours in Mammoth have those features, but Crystal Onyx Cave was just bursting at the seems with them that I have to think Mammoth just can’t compete in this category. While the size of the caverns and walkways were impressive, we couldn’t help but feel slightly let down by the lack of formations growing in this section of the cave. Later in the day we did the Passage Tour at Mammoth Cave. You could tell he takes pride in his work and wants people to enjoy this beautiful cave. The owner gave us a tour and he was fantastic! Knowledgeable, friendly, and patient with some rambunctious kids. Thanks to another review, we knew we could schedule a personal tour even during the off-season, and we are so glad we did! The cave is a relatively short tour in distance, but it was packed full of incredible formations! The kids loved learning about what determines the shape and form of the features, and they were especially invited any time we got to see cave wildlife along the way (which happened a few times). I would recommend this for families with children above 7 y.o. Social distancing was not strict but if you understand Covid 19’s mode of transmission you would want to protect yourself and others maintaining that good and safe distance. The tour guide was informative and friendly, it did not smell bad inside the cave, there was a few drops of H2O coming from the rock formations. is cheaper, I do not recommend this for children below 6 especially if they aren’t cautious, older adults with knee problems might find if difficult to climb some steep stairs, flash photograpy so far was ok, just be extra careful when climbing the stairs holding onto your cellphones or camera as it would take at least a day to recover it. Our guided tour was short, it took about 35 minutes to complete the guided tour, it was 73 degrees outside, inside the cave was 60 degrees, no need to bring a sweater this time of the year during our experience, in a Pandemic, masks were required in the shop and in the cave, online price was around $16.00 but paying with a cc is around $11-12 for adults, paying cash is even cheaper but with 4% service charge adult entrance costs $10.15 each, seniors and children below 11 y.o. ![]()
